Freeport Food Pantry Needs Help Now
The Freeport Cooperative Food Pantry had to close for this week. It has run out of food. They are scrambling to gather enough donations of either food or cash with which to purchase food so that they can reopen on November 10.
The Freeport Food Pantry has seen a dramatic increase in need this year, going from an average of 118 patrons to over 200. This has strained their resources and forced them to take drastic action like closing for a week. The organization is accepting donations from 8 am to 6 pm today through Friday. They have stated that they especially need donations of things like canned peas, beans, mixed vegetables, and soup. People may also send checks marked “Freeport Food Pantry” also can be sent to: FACC, 514 S. Chicago Ave., Freeport, IL. 61032.
Please consider helping if you can. Take up donations at work or at your community organizations. Freeport may be 30 minutes south, but they are our neighbors and need help. If you can, consider a donation to both the Freeport Food Pantry and to any of the Food Pantries in the Green County Area. Please note that the Monroe location on this list is now on the 1100 block of 17th Ave in Monroe.
This Stateline Area is known for its generosity. Let’s pitch in to help our neighbors in need.
